Путь передачи сигнала между двумя коннекторами, расположенными на концах кабеля кабельной подсистемы.
[ ГОСТ Р 53246-2008]Термин "постоянная линия" (permanent link) заменил термин "базовая линия" (Basic Link). Несмотря на физическую схожесть, реально различие выявляется при тестировании. В каждую из моделей входит кабель (горизонтальный или вертикальный), затерминированный с обеих сторон на портах коммутационного оборудования. Разница выявляется в процедуре тестирования. В базовую линию (basic link) включаются тестовые шнуры прибора и они учитываются при измерении. При тестировании по модели постоянной линии (permanent link) тестовые шнуры прибора исключаются из конфигурации. Это изменение сделано для согласования американского стандарта с международным ISO.
